The Learning Environment

The Preschool’s child-centered program is based upon the principles outlined in the NSW Curriculum Framework and the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) – “Belonging, Being & Becoming”. It is influenced by the philosophy of Reggio Emilia and The Anti Bias Curriculum.

The learning environment reflects that children are viewed as constructors of their own knowledge and that adults are facilitators and co-learners. Children are free to choose an area of interest in which they want to engage and Educators and children collaborate in decision making about the materials they require.

Each day learning opportunities are provided based on the children’s expressions of interest. These areas include dramatic play, construction, fine motor, puzzles, writing, science, gross motor, sand and sensory, storytelling, drama and music. The children also have opportunities to engage in small and larger group activities.

The program and daily routines are flexible and reflect the individual needs of the children. We welcome visitors and regularly host incursions to provide learning opportunities beyond the Preschool’s four walls.
